What the alternative costs

The benchmark isn't another app, it's the CPA or tax attorney people call in a panic. For most standard notices (CP2000, CP14,identity letters…), the documents are the same; the price and the wait aren't.

CPA / tax attorney$300-500+days to weeks of back-and-forth
Doing it alone$0hours of research, easy to get wrong
ClearNotice$39~10 minutes, free explanation first

To be clear: for genuinely complex cases, Tax Court deadlines, large debts, active levies, a licensed professional is the right call, and we'll tell you so. ClearNotice is adocument preparation service, not a law or CPA firm.

Pricing questions, answered straight

Is the explanation really free, forever?
Yes. Uploading your notice and reading its full plain-English explanation, including your deadline, is free, with no account and no card. Free stays free; we only charge when we prepare your response documents.
Is $39 a subscription?
No. The Response Package is a one-time payment for one notice. There is no recurring charge, no auto-renewal, and nothing to cancel.
What if ClearNotice can't handle my notice?
We tell you before you pay. And if you've already purchased and we can't deliver a usable response package for your notice, we refund you in full.
What does a CPA charge for the same thing?
Answering an IRS notice typically costs $300 to $500+ with a CPA or tax attorney, and takes days to weeks. ClearNotice prepares the same category of response documents in about 10 minutes for $39. Want to judge the quality first? See a sample response package.
When should I choose the Resolution Plan instead?
Choose the $99 Resolution Plan when your situation involves several notices for the same tax problem, a payment plan to request (Form 9465), or a case that will need follow-up letters over time. If you start with a $39 package and your case grows, you upgrade and pay only the difference.
Which payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards, processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Payment details and receipts are covered in our terms.
